Position: Entomologist (Plant Health)
Education Background: M.Sc. Entomology or PHd Entomology
Experience: 1-3 years
Location: Pamulaparthy, Hyderabad
Roles and Responsibilities
The role is responsible for implementing entomology screening tests in the lab, greenhouse and field.
Provide direction, support to breeding teams on entomology activities in the assigned crops.
Support manager in developing priorities and implementing projects in their respective areas/crops.
Organize, prepare and conduct experiments in the laboratory, the greenhouse and the field according to objectives and resources.
Maintain entomology greenhouses, insectary and growth chambers, & coordinate with team for implementing the SOPs.
Develop and implement insect resistance screening tests for plant breeders and trait geneticist/biotechnologist.
Maintain reference insect collections, differential hosts and breeder support databases.
Support in the development and improvement of protocols.
Work closely with plant pathologists, breeders and marker scientists to help provide direction in disease resistance development and documentation.
Travel locally as necessary for hot spot locations/breeder trials to evaluate the breeding material.
